PIB Chandigarh organises Rural Media Workshop (Vartalap) at Solan , Himachal Pradesh

Press Information Bureau, Chandigarh , Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India , today organised  Rural Media Workshop (Vartalap)  at Solan ,  Himachal Pradesh. The rural media workshop attempts to build a direct interface between PIB Chandigarh and the journalists working at district and sub-district levels across different states. The workshop was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner, Solan Ms Kritika Kulhari, by lighting the lamp, in the presence of Additional Director General (Region) Shri Rajinder Chaudhry.

The event also included another media programme – Integrated Communication & Outreach Programme (ICOP) conducted by Central Bureau of Communication, Chandigarh.

As Government of India is celebrating 5th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2022 in September, the focus of the event was on the themes of “Mahila aur Swasthya” and “Bacha aur Shiksha. POSHAN Abhiyaan aims to reduce malnutrition in a phased manner, through a life cycle approach, by adopting a synergised and result oriented approach. All these schemes address in one or other aspects related to nutrition and have the potential to improve nutritional outcomes in the country.Deputy Commissioner, Solan Ms Kritika Kulhari ,on the occasion said that Poshan Abhiyaan  is not just limited to Anganwadi workers , and that , it has multiple facets to itself .

During this month, POSHAN Maah activities will broadly focus on Plantation Drive for POSHAN VATIKA by all the stakeholders in the space available at Anganwadis, School Premises, Gram Panchayats and other places. Plantation activity will focus on planting of saplings of nutritious fruit trees, local vegetables and medicinal plants and herbs. Sensitization/awareness drive for COVID vaccination and Observance of COVID Protocols will also be held.  There will also be a special drive for Height and Weight Measurement for Children (under 6 Years of Age).

Additional Director General, PIB Chandigarh, Shri Rajinder Chaudhry speaking on the occasion said that the launch of ‘Azadi Quest’ by  Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, is a great  step,  in a series of efforts by the government to acknowledge the contribution of freedom fighters and unsung heroes during the freedom struggle of India.

He also informed that as India has risen to stand among the top 5 countries in the gaming sector, ‘Azadi Quest’ can tap into the huge market of online gamers as gaming sector has grown by 28% in 2021 alone and by 2023 the number of such gamers is expected to reach 45 crores.  This, ‘Azadi Quest’ will be among the best steps of the government to educate gamers about the contribution of freedom fighters of the country. The games’ content is simple yet comprehensive, having been specially curated by the Publications Division and vetted by experts of the Indian Council of Historical Research. During the conference, Shri Harshit Narang,Asst Director, PIB Chandigarh also gave an interactive demonstration of the gaming app by taking answers from the media persons and students for questions of the game.

There was also a discussion on the Role of media in crisis management, changing media scenario due to emergence of new/social media and other relevant issues and the need to counter false news. 

The workshop  was hosted by Shri Harshit Narang , Assistant Director ,Press Information Bureau, Chandigarh. While addressing the conference, Shri Chaudhry emphasized the need for parents to promote the right kind of foods among their children with nutritional content best suited for their growth and development. He further added that children must refrain from eating unhealthy junk food and switch to healthy home-made meals for the best of their health, physical and mental development. He also added that both the Azadi Quest gaming activities along with the right nutrition for our children as part of giving further impetus to Poshan Maah , will ensure good and sound health of youth in our country. The workshop  was attended by local media as well as media persons from Chandigarh.
