Orders issued to close all religious places by 31 March 2020 – Deputy Commissioner

District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Shimla Amit Kashyap in view of the COVID-19 threat today ordered the closure of all religious worship places in the district till 31 March, 2020. This measure, he said, was necessary due to the heavy rush in temples and the prevailing COVID-19 threat.

He said devotees can have a glimpse of Jakhu Temple, Sankat Mochan Temple, Tara Devi Temple and Kali Bari through Web Casting and morning and evening Aarti would be telecast live from 19 March, 2020 and added that during Ashtmi and Navami programmes will be shown live for the full day.

Amit Kashyap said all educational coaching centres in the district including computer centers will remain closed till further order. He said these orders will be implemented forthwith and those flouting these orders will face penal action. He appealed to the general public not to circulate rumours which created unnecessary panic and to contact the official sources toll free number 1077 for authentic information.

The Deputy Commissioner also directed all the SDMs to enhance surveillance in their respective areas and added that if COVID-19 symptoms were seen in farm labourers in the orchards they should inform the Chief Medical Officer and helpline number 104.
