IPH, Horticulture, Revenue and Sainik Welfare Minister Mahinder Singh Thakur today presided over the 74th Independence Day function at The Ridge here today. In his address, he stressed the need for a strong and vibrant Nation to preserve the sovereignty of the country and lauded the role of Armed Forces. He also took salute of the HP Police contingent on the occasion.
Mahinder Singh praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi in ushering an era of ph development and progress in the hilly State and reiterated that the present State Government was committed to the development of weaker sections of society and all regions to usher in holistic growth and equitable development. He urged the youth of the State to shun drugs and channelize their energies in constructive work. He appealed to the youth to join the Armed Forces and serve the country with zeal. The IPH Minister stated that the State Government with its balanced development approach had bridged the rural-Urban divide and thus had improved the people’s quality of life.
He said in order to double the income of farmers in the first stage of the Prime Minister Agriculture Irrigation Scheme, 125 Crore were being spent. He also added that under the Jal Jeevan Mission all efforts were being made by the government to solve the drinking water crisis in the State and a scheme worth Rs 4500 crore had been approved by the Centre. Mahender Singh said even during the COVID-19 pandemic, the State Government had made adequate arrangements for smooth running of the apple season and apple growers were getting handsome returns for their produce. He also added that for the channelisation of Pabbar river 190 crore and in Paonta Sahib area for River Yamuna 250 crore will be spent soon.
On the occasion Minister inaugurated Nasha Mukat Abhiyan in the district and flag off vehicle of Nasha Mukat Abhiyan for the various part of district to disseminate the information regarding Anti Drug campaign and aware the people.
