Dr. RAJ KUMAR CHABBEWAL HAILS STATE’s DECISION TO LAUNCH DR. BR AMBEDKAR SC POST MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME FOR SC STUDENTS
SAYS INCREASED INCOME CRITERIA SURELY ENABLE LAKHS OF SC STUDENTS TO PURSUE HIGHER EDUCATION

MLA from Chabbewal Dr. Raj Kumar on Wednesday welcomed the decision of Punjab Cabinet to launch its own SC Post Matric Scholarship Scheme after the name of Dr. BR Ambedkar.
In a statement issued here the MLA said that Theo’s decision of Punjab Cabinet would prove a boon for SC students in pursuing higher education. Dr. Raj said that Captain Amarinder led Punjab Government has fulfilled its promise with SC students within short span of time since the Union Government had left these lakhs of students in lurch by discontinuing grant to state under Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme. He said this step of State Government would ensure higher education to SC students in government and private institutions with increased income criteria from earlier Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 4 lakh to facilitate more students. Dr. Raj said that the Dr. BR Ambedkar SC Post Matric Scholarship Scheme will come to force from academic session 2021-22 under which all central/state government and private institutions in Punjab (including Chandigarh) will be covered.
Thanking Captain Amarinder Singh for this much needed endeavour to protect the future of SC students, the MLA said that the Centre had deliberately bereft the SC students from pursuing higher education.
