HOSHIARPUR, AUGUST 31 / New Super Bharat News:

In order to break the chain of COVID infection especially in the areas having corona infected people, the District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait on Monday declared four Micro Containment Zones in the district.

As per order issued under section 144 of the CrPC, the local mohalla Ajit Nagar, village Mandiala, mohalla Kainthan of Dasuya and Uchi Bassi in Dasuya Tehsil will be the micro containment zones (MCZs).

Giving directions to the concerned SDMs and DSPs, Apneet Riyait asked them to ensure 100% testing in the said zones besides extending full support to health teams wherever required with complete sealing of these areas as per the COVID guidelines. Apneet Riyait also asked the health teams to complete 100% sampling in next three days. The District Magistrate also directed the concerned officers to take strict action against anybody trying to obstruct the health teams or if anyone spreading messages to prevent people from giving samples. She said that 100 percent population of these zones would have to undergo corona tests as early detection could lead to early recovery in case of positive cases, if any.

Issuing an appeal, Apneet Riyait said that people should not hesitate or get panicked in giving samples for COVID test as early testing would go a long way to contain the further spread of virus.

Pertinently, only medical emergency and essential services will be allowed in the said MCZs, where health teams carry intensive diie-to-door surveillance and contact tracing besides shifting all the positive cases to health facilities as per the health protocol with a special focus on vulnerable and high risk population.

Notably, the containment period will be of minimum 14 days and if during last one week not more than one new case is reported, the MCZ will be opened, otherwise the restrictions will continue for one week at a time.
