BETI BACHAO BETI PADAHO-DEPUTY COMMISSIONER HONOURS 37 GIRL STUDENTS FOR BAGGING TOP POSITIONS IN 10+2 RESULTS

Under ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ (Save Girl Child, Educate girl child) scheme, the Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait on Friday honoured 37 meritorious girls who secured top positions in results of 10+2 class with a cash award of Rs 5000 each.  The Deputy Commissioner also announced Pratishtha Deveshwar as Ambassador of Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao for Hoshiarpur district.

In a simple but impressive function held here at Services Club, the Deputy Commissioner gave away cash awards to girls securing top positions in different streams including Medical, Non- Medical, Arts, Commerce and Vocational group. 

In her motivational address to these the students for their outstanding performance  in exams, Apneet Riyait said that these girls had not only brought laurels for their families, schools and Hoshiarpur but also become source of inspiration for other younger students to excel in exams. She said that the District Administration was fully committed for the overall development and welfare of girls besides ensuring their safety and security. 

Riyait stated that there were total 37 girls who bagged positions across district of which 10 each were from Medical & Non-Medical streams, 11 from arts, two from commerce and four from vocational group. Wishing bright and golden future to these girls, the Deputy Commissioner encourages them to further work hard for registering success in upcoming classes too. The Deputy Commissioner also complimented the teachers and parents for making this achievement possible with their fulsome support and visionary guidance. 

In another significant announcement, Riyait announced city lass Prathishta Deveshwar as Ambassador of Beti Padhao-Beti Bachao scheme in Hoshiarpur for her rare feat to get herself enrolled in The University of Oxford, London despite all odds.  She said that it was a matter of great pride that Pratishtha by beating all hurdles proved that firm determination would always lead to a great success. 

In her address, Prathishta credited her success to hard work, dedication and devotion and thanked Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for complementing her over phone. She said that she would pursue Master degree in Public Policy in Oxford University. 

Prominent amongst other present on the occasion included Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Amit Kumar Panchal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Harbir Singh and District Programme Officer Dr Kuldip Singh.
