The Punjab Cabinet Ministers, MPs and MLAs have thanked the Union Road Transport Minister Mr. Nitin Gadkari for approving the National Highways Authority to make Rayya-Batala-Dera Baba Nanak road four lane in view of the strong demand of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh.

In a joint statement issued here today, Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Cooperation and Jails Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Social Security and Women and Child Development Minister Aruna Chaudhary, Lok Sabha Member Jasbir Singh Dimpa, Sukhwinder Singh Danny, Santokh Singh Bhalaipur and Balwinder Singh Ladi (all three MLAs) thanked the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways and termed it as a great gift for the Sangat visiting Gurudwara Sri Kartarpur Sahib.

They further said that on the occasion of 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji and 400th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji, a 70 km road stretch connecting Rayya to Dera Baba Nanak via Baba Bakala, Chowk Mehta and Batala would be made four lane. The decision is a matter of great happiness for the entire border area with the Sikh Sangat.

Divulging more, they said that the Punjab Chief Minister had been strongly demanding since last year to make this road four lane. He said that the historical cities of Batala and Dera Baba Nanak belonging to the First Sikh Guru, Baba Bakala belonging to the Ninth Sikh Guru also fall on this route. Apart from this, it would also prove beneficial in bolstering the industrial infrastructure at Batala.
