COMMISSION TO WRITE COURT FOR FAST TRACK TRIAL IN CASE

TANDA (HOSHIARPUR), OCTOBER 23 / NEW SUPER BHARAT NEWS:

Seeking death sentence for the accused, who murdered and set on fire a six –year old girl in a nearby village, the Chairperson of Punjab State Women Commission Manisha Gulati on Friday evening met the members of bereaved family besides directing the district police to file challan in court in a few days.  

            Accompanied by the SSP Hoshiarpur Navjot Singh Mahal, the Chairperson after meeting the family assured that the State Government and the Commission would ensure best possible help to the family members in this hour of crisis. She said that the Commission would also request the Court to try this case on fast track so that the accused could be got awarded harshest punishment that too in a short period. She said that such accused should be hanged, which could be served as a deterrent for others. The Commission in consultation with the District Administration would also ensure the free education for other children of the bereaved parents besides extending other help & support to family.

            Giving a clarion call to take awareness against such heinous crimes at the grassroots level, Manisha Gulati exhorted the people to come forward against such menaces and make their children aware against any physical exploitation by anyone so that these elements could be brought to book. She said that unified efforts against such crimes were call of the day, which could only be possible with the support of public.  She also appealed the educational institutions and parents to educate children about ‘good-touch & bad-touch’ so none could exploit the children.  

            Interacting with media persons, the Chairperson said that capital punishment should be awarded in such cases. She also asserted that this is a extremely tough time for the family, who lost their daughter, and there should be no politics on such matters.  She also said that the district police was working day and night to conclude its probe on all aspects, which would pave a way for harshest punishment for the accused.

Meanwhile, the Senior Superintendent of Police Navjot Singh Mahal informed that the police would file a challan in court against the perpetrators of such horrific crime in few days as the investigation was undergoing on war foot. Taking prompt action against the accused the district police arrested them within short span of time after the incident and now no stone will be left unturned to ensure speedy trial and justice to the victim family, he added.
