SSP DIRECTS POLICE OFFICERS TO TIGHTEN NOOSE AGAINST ILLICIT LIQUOR TRADE

A day after joining the office, Senior Superintendent of Police Navjot Singh Mahal directed to further tightening the noose against the illicit liquor trade which led to arrest of 8 persons with registration of nine cases under Excise Act.
Mahal, on Sunday, held a detailed meeting with the police officers to chalk out an action plan for eliminating the drugs, illicit liquor menace and ensuring the strictest action against sand mafia in the district.
Giving details, Navjot Singh Mahal said that as he had already warned such unscrupulous elements indulged in the trade of illicit liquor, drugs and sand mafia, the District Police would intensify the crackdown for bringing them to book. He said the police teams seized 457 litres of illicit liquor as well as 802 litre of licit liquor during today’s operation. This nexus of illicit liquor trade will be broken thus paving the way for elimination of this malpractice in Hoshiarpur.
The SSP pointed out that all the Police officers had been mandated to launch vigorous campaign against this practice, which had started forthwith. He said that the raids were conducted in the sub division Dasuya, Tanda, Hoshiarpur and Garhshankar resulting in the seizure and registration of nine cases.
Seeking cooperation from people to apprise the police about the spots or places, where illicit liquor trade is taking place, the SSP said that no one would spared at any cost and they would be dealt with heavy hand to wipe out this menace.
